A quiet hotel in downtown Bangkok – 10 reasons to love The Eugenia

The Eugenia Hotel & Spa is located within Sukhumvit Soi 31, giving the hotel both access to the city center and public transportation while being deep enough into the private area of the main street for our guests to temporarily step away from the urban city and enjoy being transported to the tranquil 19th century. Our guests can still go to bed, wake up and even lounge around the hotel on the more restful days and enjoy the vintage surroundings of The Eugenia’s interior in silence or take in the natural environment of the outdoor swimming pool and Thai sala.

However, if feeling in a more adventurous mood, all our guest has to do is to either walk for around 10 minutes or get a taxi to the Phrom Phong BTS station and from there, shopping centers, restaurants and entertainment venues are all within effortless reach.

If you’re looking for nightlife entertainment, The Eugenia is situated very near the Narz nightclub – a newly refurbished venue aimed towards the high-end Bangkok clubbing scene. The club is separated into different themes such as hip-hop, house and trance with sophisticated and chic interior design.

Even though The Eugenia has its delicious food where you can choose to dine in either the D.B. Bradley Dining Room, Zheng He Lounge or the comforts of your own suite, we are also located near many restaurants among Sukhumvit Soi 31. Some prime examples being the Giusto restaurant serving Italian food such as pasta, pizza and grilled seafood in a warm and cozy atmosphere of a modern home. Other restaurants serving Italian food would be Antonio’s, Bella Napoli and also Enoteca that also serves quality food and desserts. For restaurants with a more local flavour, Sukhumvit Soi 31 also has Baan Esan Muangyot that serves authentic North Eastern Thai food at reasonable prices and the T Restaurant that serves Thai cuisine with a Chinese twist.

To entertain yourself in Bangkok’s shopping centers and extensive choices of dining and nightlife, the Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain station can lead you to an even larger variety of places. This way, you can be sure that your stay with us will be peaceful enough to relax and unwind but near enough to the city’s attractions.

The Classic Interior Design – 10 Things to love about The Eugenia

The Eugenia Hotel & Spa, constructed in a style that takes you into the old world, is certainly one of the more unique boutique hotels in Bangkok. Previously owned by Mr Eugene, a Taiwanese Interior Designer who moved to Bangkok in 1998, it is no wonder that The Eugenia was designed in such a beautifully classic way considering his love for art and culture and his dream to have all the fine travellers feel like they are at a home away from home.

Image

The inspiration for The Eugenia’s design stems from an old Vietnamese lady of 83 years who he met and adored on one of his trips to Ho Chi Min. It has been said that she was a charming lady, always clad in her national costume, drinks Vietnamese coffee, eats French Baguette and reads the French Figaros. The concept of traditional timeless vintage class was therefore born along with the name she called him – “Eugene-Ni” (with love).

Image

As Mr Eugene has evidently done his share of travelling, he has collected a lot of old colonial antique furniture from Asia, European antiques from his trips to Europe and also his father’s collection of Chinese furniture. All serving as the decoration that makes The Eugenia Hotel & Spa as atmospheric as it is today.

Image

Alongside being decorated with relics from around the globe in the lobby and public areas, the entire architecture and interior of the hotel stays true to this theme which momentarily transports the hotel guest into another era when staying at The Eugenia’s luxurious rooms. In this 12-suite hotel, there are 4 room types; the Sawadee Suite, the Wattana Suite, the Siam Suite and finally, the Eugenia Suite which happens to be the biggest.

Image

The Eugenia Suite has an entrance foyer and a sitting area with an antique dining table for 2 where you can choose to order room service and dine in the comforts of your suite. Here, we offer all the standard amenities of a suite that are expected by the modern traveller. In the bedroom we have a classic four poster bed with white curtains that mirrors both old western and oriental design. From the shape of the doorway to the lamps, every inch of this room is intentionally old-fashioned and retro.

We even see a consistency of theme in the bathrooms with a traditional freestanding copper bathtub that you would seldom find anywhere nowadays.

Image

Although every room is under the same theme, the furniture however is not redundant. We can see here in the Siam Suite that the four-poster bed is of a different design and colour while still being of the same period as The Eugenia Suite.

We also have rooms featuring twin beds such as this one from the Wattana Suite.

All our rooms might be elegantly aged in design but the guest here won’t have to worry about being out of touch with the rest of the world as we also offer the essential modern facilities such as an in-room WiFi connection, self controlled air-conditioning, a wall-mounted LCD TV, a personal electronic safe to keep all valuables and a mini fridge with a mini bar. Not to mention the fact that we also offer a 24-hour butler service to ensure that all your needs are met.

The D.B. Bradley Dining Room – 10 reasons to love The Eugenia

Another reason to love The Eugenia is its D.B. Bradley Dining Room. Not only can you bask in the vintage atmosphere on our four poster beds but you could also enjoy a luxurious meal at our restaurant.

Zheng He

To give you a little brackground on the inspiration, the D.B. Bradley was named after Dan Beach Bradley who was a western missionary settling in Thailand as his new home.

Staying consistent to the theme, the food we serve are therefore cross-cultural with both Occidental and Asiatic gourmet dishes cooked by our talented Thai chef and his team. The meals are carefully prepared in the nearby kitchen, with both a systematic order in a clean environment to provide the best for our customers. Here, you can see a picture of our chef preparing the Foei Gras meal for our visitors from Compass Hospitality.

Upon the Compass Hospitality’s Marketing and F&B staff’s visit to our hotel last week, we prepared our signature Foei Gras, 500 day grain-fed Wagyu beef tenderloin with French Foei Gras with side pan fried potatoes and our crème brûlée with vanilla stick.

Other signature dishes also include our pan seared marinated North Atlantic Snowfish in champagne cream sauce and our Alaskan Deep Sea Scallops with Cauliflower-Wasabi mousseline. Of course, we also have a versatile menu of many different choices depending on your taste and cravings.

These desserts prepared by our chef can be enjoyed both in the D.B. Bradley Dining Room or as an Afternoon Tea in the Zheng He Lounge – the Afternoon Tea being available from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. Below is an image of Compass Hospitality staff also enjoying this after the mentioned lunch above.

To make your meal with beloved family and friends even more lavish, our dining room is designed with a mixture of western and oriental styles, with artwork taking from a wide variety of local ancient cultures. The first step into the D.B. Bradley will make you feel like you have entered another world with the contrast between the pastel and wooden classic tones outside and the elaborate designs and deep colour combinations inside. Augmenting the atmosphere further, our dining room plays the soft and soothing tunes from the west, east and even Africa.

Awarded thrice in a row by Thailand’s Tatler (a magazine catering towards the spirit of high society in Thailand) for the best restaurant in Bangkok, the D.B. Bradley is definitely an experience to try on that special occasion.
